 rip\, approx 5 miles\, Slow Speed\n\nRoger has volunteered to lead a nice r
 elaxed trip out of Holland Park to go see the City of Hollywood paint the s
 ky.\n\nLOCATION & DESCRIPTION\nWe will launch from Holland Park and do a ca
 sual grand tour of West Lake as the sun sets\, returning to Holland Park a 
 little before 9PM to watch the fireworks launched from Hollywood Beach. We 
 will probably watch from the area between the ramp and the Intracoastal wat
 erway.  The park closes as soon as they can once the fireworks are over\, s
 o don't plan on more paddling.\n \nWHAT TO BRING\nLights\, bug spray\, PFD\
 , whistle\, water or other beverages\, snacks.\nFishing rod if you want - l
 icense required and snook are out of season.\n\nDO NOT attempt to light any
  fireworks or sparklers from the (flammable) kayaks. There will be enough m
 isadventures from kids aiming at us from shore...   :-)\n\nWEATHER\nIt's th
 e time of year again when weather can be a factor in trips - especially aft
 ernoon/early evening trips.\nHere are the ground rules:\n-  Lightning clear
 ly visible from the launch site - we don't launch.\n-  Visible flash follow
 ed by thunder within 30 seconds (6 miles) - we don't launch.\n-  30 minutes
  must elapse between last lightning/thunder before we start the trip.\n-  I
 f we get caught out in a mild electrical storm in the Fort Lauderdale urban
  area\, we're pretty safe\, but will seek appropriate shelter immediately. 
  Heavy lightning storms will accelerate this process.\n-  If it's just rain
 ing\, heavy or light\, we're paddling - did you expect to stay dry??\n \nKA
 YAK RENTALS\nKayak rentals will not be available\, but some folks might hav
 e a 'yak to share or a spare seat in a tandem - post it in your RSVP if you
 're in need or can share!\n\nPARKING\nThere is a limited amount of free par
 king at Holland Park - be early to get it.  There is also master meter park
 ing in the boat launch area.  If you arrive late\, there may not be parking
  at all. The backup launch site would be the public boat ramp at 830 Polk S
 t. Bring quarters for meters and cash for master meter parking.\n\nHollywoo
