The Stamford Kayaking Meetup Group

The Stamford Kayak and Paddlers group is a local group of paddling enthusiasts looking to meet up with other that share the same interest. This group is for people of all skill levels and of all kayaking types (recreational, touring, whitewater, surfing, etc.). We also welcome canoe enthusiasts and river rafters. We will meet regularly at Cove Island, but hope to plan trips for whitewater kayaking and river rafting. If you are a beginner this is the place to start. We will organize local clinics that will give you the taste of the sport. Plus you will meet others who can give you advice before you buy any gear. If you are an experienced paddler this group is an idea way to meet other local Paddlers to talk about gear, local rivers and creeks, and to plan river trips. Kayakers of all levels are welcome!

  • "Thomas, Welcome to the SKG. You are our third 200th member (fourth if we count Bonny). I am hopping you bring us better luck, and we stay above 200 this time. To get the most out of your kayaking experience I recommend sea-kayaking. Being in Stamford you have access to nice paddle areas and an active sea-kayaking community. We look forward to seeing you soon. Come down to the meetup even if you do not have a kayak. We always grab a beer after the paddle. "

"Hello All, My cousin took me on a Kayak trip last year down in Virginia and I was instantly hooked. Now that it is summer time I want to see what CT has in terms of rivers, lakes, etc. I love to be outside and can't wait to get out on the water. "

  • "Hey Janet, Welcome to SKG. It is good to get someone in the group that is familiar with kayaking up-state on lakes. I think there are many in the group that would like to explore lake and inland kayaking. Come to the Mianus paddle this weekend."
