Since 1988 the Club has been paddling in the Clear Lake/Buffalo Bayou/State Parks/Galveston areas. The club provides all equipment and kayaks, the members come and enjoy the sites. Houston Sierra Club (local branch of the Sierra Club) holds outings for outdoor activities: hiking, camping, bicycling, backpacking, kayaking, etc. These include local one-day events, weekend trips, and week long trips to National Parks and other destinations.

This group is dedicated to guys who enjoy camping in tents - not RV's. Although there may be a little "car camping", the focus will include hiking or backpacking to get to a primitive site. Camping within access to water for swimming is desired, but not required. Occasionally camping in conjunction with kayaking or canoeing will be included.
